Technical Advisory Services on Green Infrastructure Design – Vietnam Scaling up Urban Upgrading Project

Vietnam Scaling up Urban Upgrading (SUUP) project strengthens integrated, risk-informed planning capacity of seven project cities which are in the early stages of urbanization, universal accessibility and green infrastructure design for investments that are cost effective and considers adaptability to climate change, particularly water-related hazards.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical support to the SUUP project team to incorporate green infrastructure principles to urban planning and infrastructure design. Under this project, capacities of cities will be strengthened to conceive well-designed upgrading plans that incorporate appropriate resilience measures.

The team

Reviews technical regulations, legislations and guidance on green infrastructure principles and design in Vietnam as well as good practices and lessons learnt from other countries globally on green infrastructure and overall urban planning.

Provides advisory services on detailed design for green infrastructure: reviews the hydrological models for the seven cities, basic design of infrastructure investments including rehabilitation of canals, embankment, drainage and wastewater network, alleys in Low Income Areas, development of resettlement sites, primary and secondary urban roads and bridges. Recommends practical ways to enhance green infrastructure aspects and principles into detailed design.

Reviews City Master Plan, Zoning Plan and development regulations: suggest practical ways to incorporate green infrastructure principles and design into these plans and regulations.

Prepares design guidelines on key infrastructure sectors to incorporate green infrastructure principles and design.

Provides training and development of training manuals on green infrastructure principles and design for a wide range of audiences in Vietnam.
