Pakistan – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inclusive Urban Growth Program 2017
The objective of the project was to help the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkwa Province to formulate an integrated, climate-resilient urban environmental infrastructure investment and city development programs for cities of Peshawar, Abbottabad and Mardan.
The investment program enables the cities to better manage disruption from weather and climate-change related hazards whilst simultaneously catering to the service needs of their residents. Adopting a highly participative development process and incorporating the sectors of water supply, wastewater, solid waste management and urban transport, the Study formulated a high-priority, medium-term investment program and subsequent investment package for the cities for further feasibility assessment. The investments will enhance inclusiveness, resilience and competitiveness by stimulating job creation and private sector development.
Our team prepared the City Development Plans and Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS) for the selected urban infrastructure investments by conducting rapid urban assessments, stakeholder consultations, preparation of medium-term infrastructure investment plans, initial capacity development and training needs assessments and capacity development plans and pre-feasibility studies for nine selected investment projects:
Abbottabad: Solid Waste Management, Water Supply and Bus Terminal
Mardan: Solid Waste Management, Water Supply, Sewerage and Sponge City
Peshawar: Capacity Building, Street Liveability and Smart City
